TaniwhaThames arrives at Ovalhouse
We’re pretty excited here at Shaky Isles. Our new show TaniwhaThames opens at Ovalhouse on Tuesday 15 November. Directed by Stella Duffy and written and devised by the Company, this is a story for anyone who calls London home, and was one of Lyn Gardner’s ‘Picks of the Week’ in the Guardian.
Tickets start at just £7 and we’ve got some exciting pre and post show discussions, meal deals and Wandle Ale made by the good folk at Sambrook’s Brewery available at the Bar. Book now to guarantee your seats.
16 Nov, post-show discussion: Making things happens with Open Space
We’ve created TaniwhaThames from scratch over the course of this year and have worked in Open Space to make it happen. Open Space is used within organisations, communities, groups, and even conflict resolution situations all around world, and we’re one of the first theatre companies to use it to make work.
Join us after the show on 16 November to hear director Stella Duffy, Rachael McGill and the cast discuss how Open Space can be used to make theatre, engage communities and create purposeful action in complex situations. On 16 November all tickets are £7 and can be booked here.
6pm, 23 Nov pre-show event: The Charmed and the Curious
A unique chance to see and handle some of the Polynesian collections held in the Cuming Museum in south London, as well as some charms and curios from the Lovett collection of London Superstitions, a fascinating insight into the superstitious beliefs and popular customs of Londoners at the turn of the 19th Century. Oral histories both local and from the South Seas associated with the collections will be shared on the night by author and folklorist Chris Roberts and artist Rosanna Raymond. Find out more here.
Dinner and a show for just £18
Ovalhouse has a great cafe and bar which serves homemade, authentic and hearty Caribbean food. We’ve been sampling the menu while rehearsing and it’s pretty darn good. You can enjoy a show and dinner (excluding drinks) for only £18! Just select the Meal Deal ticket when booking for a show. Find out more here.
